Chaos Charity

 Forward legions of chaos! forward!
Finished off a clients chaos force. All our rhinos and friends clock in at level two with some upgraded banner work. Really enjoyed working with the color schemes laid out to contrast the demon reds.

Another cannon got added to the mix as well.

We threw in some heroes to the group. After all, what is an army with out heroes...

 The Herald.

One final shout out to the NOVA Open Charity Foundation. They have set up a development blog to track the final 6 weeks of army progress and general event lead up.

Check it out here. http://novacf.blogspot.com/

NOVA Open Charity Silent Auction

The NOVA Open Charity Silent Auction page has officially been posted.

Silent Auction

Big thanks to my sponsor/patron, Eric Fontaine, without whom this opportunity to help support the Wounded Warriors Project would not be possible.

There are a lot of great looking projects from artists all over the country. If you are planning on attending the NOVA Open please stop by and check out all the auction items; bidding can only be done in person.

Also check out the fantastic armies being worked on by some of the top artists in the hobby on the Charity Army page.

Thunderhawk Down

"She'll make point five past lightspeed. She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts, kid. I've made a lot of special modifications myself."

Built, patched, and converted a thunderhawk for a client. Got to add some bells and whistles to spruce up some of the exterior. This was a great application for Games workshop liquid greenstuff. While it suspiciously came out at the time of the big finecast push, it is a good product for what it does.

 "Lock s-foils in attack position"
Put some pins in the upper s-foils to add some battle action.

Painting this bird was something the client wanted to handle, so just the building contract went to the starship union team.
Han Solo would think twice before trying to out run this guy.

NOVA Open Charity Project: Completed

I give you the Vampire Lord on Zombie Dragon.

Finished up the all the small details on this charity piece. Really happy with the final look and clean finish. Those of you that follow my other projects will notice those amazing Powered Play Gaming lights again! I wanted to use a different color, but the green is just one of the more powerful LEDs.
The Vampire Lord on Zombie Dragon
A friend helped out with the wood work, major props there as that is not my forte.

In this photo, you will see the wooden base removed. That is for easy game playability. The wooden frame is larger than the legal base size for this model. So, when you want to use it, you just lift it off and it is ready to go.

If you are going to the NOVA Open convention I hope you get the chance to see it in person and help out a great cause: The Wounded Warriors Effort.

NOVA Open Charity: The Dragon Rises

Major progress has been posted up on this dragon. He is just knocking the sand out of his eyes after his nap. He was deathly tired.

This vampire lord had a bone to pick with his lazy dragon.
Maybe there were a lot of bones to pick with his zombie master.
How many puns can we get....
The point being, Game of Thrones doesn't have the only dragons.
 No guts, no glory.
The remaining parts are some minor details; flocking and some resin to add gristle to the guts. That, "just rotted and guts spilled look" One of the last additions will be to add the game legal base. 150mm by 100mm!
The lights are installed of course, but we will save that show for the final model.

Guts and Glory

The dragon has developed a serious case of rotting innards... Doctors recommend rest and relaxation... I still don't think it will help...

This just about wraps up the build on the http://www.novaopen.com/ charity piece. Next step up is painting. check back for more updates.

Well Adpeticon is just days away and there is still some sandbag painting, explosion markers, and buildings to ruin. Check back for post Adepticon coverage and the new and exciting projects there after.

Tomb of the Dragon's Eye

News from the cutting board. With Adepticon looming and more deadlines than I care to count, good progress has been made on the NOVA open charity piece. The resin dust, melted plastic, and foam has settled, lets see what we have.

Here is our groups facebook page Wounded Warriors Hobby Projects. Follow the different projects that will be part of the charity auction at the NOVA Open!

A big thank you and major props to our patron/sponsor, Eric Fontaine for making these projects possible.

I also staggered across a name, or theme if you will; The Tomb of the Dragon's Eye.This model is representing a Vampire Lord on a Zombie Dragon for the Warhammer Fantasy Vampire Counts Army.
The build went well with some easy joint work due to the plastic/resin that Reaper uses for these bones.
Now begins the sculpting stage. Lots of joint filling and some rotting innards to add to cover up the wire lines.... wait wire lines.....
Bam! I never liked the color green.... always seems evil.
In other news, the North Africa German Airfield is progressing quickly with just the airplanes, runway, and sandbags needing painting now.

Thanks for checking in!

Nova Open Auction

Ground has officially been broken on a Charity Auction piece for the Washington DC area convention, the Nova Open. Being from the east coast I was surprised to have never heard of this event.

http://www.novaopen.com/

The piece is a custom creation and will be representing a vampire lord on zombie dragon from the GW fantasy line.

Here are some of the assembled materials. Amongst others of hirst arts blocks, foam, and plasticard. It will of course be on the 150mmx100mm base for the original model and will be a huge and stunning center piece for any army.

Just dry fit to see the size and complete model.

Powered Play lighting kit will be featured in the model as well.

Rising Sun

BAM! The Imperial Army of Japan is finished. Finished off the rest of the armies special weapons and artillery along with a Veteran Jungle squad.
These gun loaders get really overheated having to get the muzzle brush and ramrod the gun powder bundles down the barrel of this gun c. 1862.

These veteran infantry show up some of the Japanese keen sense of blending into the dense jungles of the pacific. I really enjoyed doing a bright jungle leaf high light to contrast the tan over tones.

The main leader of this platoon and his trusty radio operator for all his take out needs.

A little custom flame thrower pack and gully suited snipers rounds out the Bolt action army.

Up next, a North Africa Airfield 4x6 terrain board for the Chicagoland Adepticon Bolt action event.
