Nova Open Auction

Ground has officially been broken on a Charity Auction piece for the Washington DC area convention, the Nova Open. Being from the east coast I was surprised to have never heard of this event.

http://www.novaopen.com/

The piece is a custom creation and will be representing a vampire lord on zombie dragon from the GW fantasy line.

Here are some of the assembled materials. Amongst others of hirst arts blocks, foam, and plasticard. It will of course be on the 150mmx100mm base for the original model and will be a huge and stunning center piece for any army.

Just dry fit to see the size and complete model.

Powered Play lighting kit will be featured in the model as well.

Rising Sun

BAM! The Imperial Army of Japan is finished. Finished off the rest of the armies special weapons and artillery along with a Veteran Jungle squad.
These gun loaders get really overheated having to get the muzzle brush and ramrod the gun powder bundles down the barrel of this gun c. 1862.

These veteran infantry show up some of the Japanese keen sense of blending into the dense jungles of the pacific. I really enjoyed doing a bright jungle leaf high light to contrast the tan over tones.

The main leader of this platoon and his trusty radio operator for all his take out needs.

A little custom flame thrower pack and gully suited snipers rounds out the Bolt action army.

Up next, a North Africa Airfield 4x6 terrain board for the Chicagoland Adepticon Bolt action event.

Back to Banzai!

Back, well I never left, but it has been a while. Been working on some long term commissions around the work table. A couple of which, surprise surprise, revolving around some tournament and convention deadlines.

We are going straight back to the 2nd great war. All aboard the magic school bus and first stop 1942 Japan/China.

This is a Warlord games set of figures for they're Bolt Action game system. It is a 1000 point army list built from the Fall of Singapore theater selection.

Bolt Action is a squad based game, not individual. Here are a couple of the Japanese squads and special weapons units that have been completed except for basing.

Maybe a bad omen for any gaming table is fielding causalities, but sometimes grim reminders to real war keeps things grounded. Maybe this fellow banzai-ed into the wrong marine beach head.

This little fella is a tankette and was an armored recon tank with a medium machine gun. Don't mistake the little cute size for effectiveness.

Rounding out the vehicles for this force is a 6 wheeled truck with a mounted AA gun.

Still on the work board is a veterans squad and a light mortar squad. They are armed with "knee" mortars. As well as a command squad, flame thrower, and sniper teams.

Second stop is North Africa. In preparation for Chicagolands big convention, Adepticon, in April; Wyrd has taken on building a 6x4 German airfield. Supplies are beginning to filter in for the war effort.

Bolt Action is a very terrain dependent game, so the client wants lots of stuff for a very in depth battle field.

The main concept I am working off of is the Raiders of the Lost Ark scene around the airplane. Setting a scene for a platoon to attack an airfield and stop secret orders from leaving the airstrip!

The Shade of Christmas Past: Conversions

The previous spooky tower brought out some ghouls from the wood work. It is a couple weeks past halloween but this guy still wanted to go trick or treating.

The base for this model was 3.5 models technically, a bit of a mash up. It was a lot of fun sculpting this model and it was a great way to get some new looks on a model.
This 40mm conversion snagged a Best Conversion award at Bilbo's Birthday Bash and helped complete a big diorama in the previous post. The castle diorama was awarded a best overall in appearance and theme in a tough painted field.
Keep the requests coming and thanks again for all the support.

New Terrain Sample

Finished up a terrain display board piece that will be going into the terrain samples. Really happy with the final look and the stained wall finish.

The display piece measures 2x2 feet and close to 18 inches high.

It was a large undertaking dealing with many different effects of a diorama. Water effects, lighting, staining, and some new and exciting flocking materials all went into this.
Ah yes, and it lights up. Got my hands dirty with the Powered Play LED lighting kits and really pulled off some cool scenes. They have all colors imaginable and the snap circuit boards making lighting projects super easy.

The Big Cheese

The big cheese is here. Locking in the grand dwarf himself.
This big ole book of grudges finishes up the dwarf legion Wyrd has been working on over the past months. Really great to see the final unit all finished up and complete.
