Tomb of the Dragon's Eye

News from the cutting board. With Adepticon looming and more deadlines than I care to count, good progress has been made on the NOVA open charity piece. The resin dust, melted plastic, and foam has settled, lets see what we have.

Here is our groups facebook page Wounded Warriors Hobby Projects. Follow the different projects that will be part of the charity auction at the NOVA Open!

A big thank you and major props to our patron/sponsor, Eric Fontaine for making these projects possible.

I also staggered across a name, or theme if you will; The Tomb of the Dragon's Eye.This model is representing a Vampire Lord on a Zombie Dragon for the Warhammer Fantasy Vampire Counts Army.
The build went well with some easy joint work due to the plastic/resin that Reaper uses for these bones.
Now begins the sculpting stage. Lots of joint filling and some rotting innards to add to cover up the wire lines.... wait wire lines.....
Bam! I never liked the color green.... always seems evil.
In other news, the North Africa German Airfield is progressing quickly with just the airplanes, runway, and sandbags needing painting now.

Thanks for checking in!

Nova Open Auction

Ground has officially been broken on a Charity Auction piece for the Washington DC area convention, the Nova Open. Being from the east coast I was surprised to have never heard of this event.

http://www.novaopen.com/

The piece is a custom creation and will be representing a vampire lord on zombie dragon from the GW fantasy line.

Here are some of the assembled materials. Amongst others of hirst arts blocks, foam, and plasticard. It will of course be on the 150mmx100mm base for the original model and will be a huge and stunning center piece for any army.

Just dry fit to see the size and complete model.

Powered Play lighting kit will be featured in the model as well.

Wyrd is looking to part ways with some painted armies and models. Please feel free to check out and read the information below.

The Shade of Christmas Past: Conversions

The previous spooky tower brought out some ghouls from the wood work. It is a couple weeks past halloween but this guy still wanted to go trick or treating.

The base for this model was 3.5 models technically, a bit of a mash up. It was a lot of fun sculpting this model and it was a great way to get some new looks on a model.
This 40mm conversion snagged a Best Conversion award at Bilbo's Birthday Bash and helped complete a big diorama in the previous post. The castle diorama was awarded a best overall in appearance and theme in a tough painted field.
Keep the requests coming and thanks again for all the support.

The Big Cheese

The big cheese is here. Locking in the grand dwarf himself.
This big ole book of grudges finishes up the dwarf legion Wyrd has been working on over the past months. Really great to see the final unit all finished up and complete.

White Lights

Seeing the white light! Not really but I am seeing some scars... White Scars that is. Bulked out some tactical squads for an up and coming White Scars 40k army.

Models were supplied built and the client will be finishing up the basing.

These models are a painting level 2 on pre-built and pre-primed models.

Till next time!

Warhammer Dwarf Warriors

That is right, we are still here! Lots of projects here at Wyrd so do not worry, your calls will be answered, operators are standing by!
At this point some of you maybe seeing a theme in certain dwarves appearing... so yes, we begin to wrap up this massive dwarf army with a unit large unit of warriors and a couple mantic models as well.
It is great seeing an army really hit the finished stages as that means more time on the table top.
Like the other units you are looking at a level one painting and basing commission. Check back at older posts and the examples in the menus on the right for more shots.

Lock' n Load

Adepticon has come and gone and we are back on the horse. Lock and loading and maybe panning for some gold in the process.

Enjoyed the candle stick helmets on these guys, extra character.
A little more firepower than they're crossbow buddies but they did shop at the same clothing store.

The old Runelord shows up in this bunch with some swag. Yeah swag. Hanging out in the hero painted level with his lord buddies.

The whole large army is really developing; moving into some slayers and bigger heroes for the next couple projects.

Crossbow Hunting

Continuing the great dwarf army. A large unit of Gamesworkshop and Warlord crossbow models just walked off the painting table.

To match up with the previous ranger hero, I threw in some greens to give it some distinction and break up the purples across the different units.
Thunderers, miners, slayers, and warriors are still on the docket for the future.

An Unexpected Party

A couple days from the release of the Hobbit on DVD and we have got some party goers to celebrate.

It was fun to get into the new Hobbit line of miniatures; they are all great sculpts. Lots of individual details for each character.

A lot of the groups clothing has blank areas along the edges that lends itself to free hand work if you wish. These guys were a little more simple at level 2.
Anyone think Gloin's axes were handed down to gimli?
